Most People don’t look past their nose. They look in the direction in which they are going, but are they really seeing? Do they see the beauty in the walk? Do they see the footprints beside them? Do they see the big picture? I once read an article from Max Lucado that asked, “What if you woke up tomorrow with only the things you thanked God for today, what would you have?”

WOW! What a question I thought to myself. Was I too busy in life to see the blessings? Did I remember to thank God for our house, the cars, my husband, and the kids? I always pray for them, but did I say thank you for them?

Psalms 100:4

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise, be thankful to Him and bless His name.

Romans 14:6-9

Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone. If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.

Ephesians 5:19-20

19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Verse after verse instructs us to give praise and thanksgiving in all that we do and all that we have. But how many of see the problems right in front of us rather than all he has done for us?

My Prayer Today:

Oh, Lord Jesus, Thank you. Thank you for always making a way, for providing. Thank you for the blessings bestowed to me. Thank you for home you have provided and the health of my home. Thank you for a car that runs and the finances to provide for my family. Thank you for my husband who works so hard and knows you by name. Thank you, Jesus, for carrying me and loving me as no one could, making the ultimate sacrifice for your child, a sinner. Thank you for my children you gifted me to raise in the kingdom of God. I pray that you allow me to remember the blessings you give me every day. Thank you, Jesus.

Amen.

Put Into Practice

Sometimes we have to see things physically. So, my challenge for you is to put into writing 3 things you are thankful for every day. By the end of the week, you will have thanked God 21 times! Could you imagine if you kept that up all year!!
